Good-bye deck

This week this old deck is coming off and a new, much larger one will take it's place. This one here has probably been there for 15-20 years and wasn't built right in the first place.  So, it's time.

We took all the screens off and replace them as well after repairing the frames.

We'll post pictures as we make progress.

Mountain Jam

Three days of amazing music.  It's all still swimming in our heads.  So much to think about, to feel. Highlights were The Allman Brothers Band, Chris Robinson Brotherhood, Bob Weir, The Avett Brothers, Jeff Tweedy (poetic, but a major downer), Government Mule, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Michael Franti and Spearhead,  Valerie June, Anders Osborne.  There was so much more, but these were the best.

Here we are sitting, listening, surrounded by mountains.

We met with friends and took a break from the music on the ski lift up the mountain.

Those tiny dots on the stage are Chris Robinson Brotherhood.  Robinson is the frontman for the Black Crowes.

This is the old-timer Bob Weir with his band.

Gregg Allman, on the screen above, is retiring after 45 years of great music.  He and his brother formed The Allman Brothers Band in Jacksonville, Florida during the late 1960s (as did their friends Lynyrd Skynyrd).  Brother Duane died in 1971 at 24 years old, but Gregg has kept their music alive for a very long time.  In very obvious ways, every show is a tribute to his brother.  Thanks for all the great music, Gregg!

Motor biking and entrepreneurship

It's a hard life for this dog, finding the sunlight to sleep in.

We took a ride up through Phoenicia to nearby Hunter Mountain.

Hunter Mountain ski slopes still have some snow on them!

Her setup at the Woodstock Flea Market.  She's quite a talent!

A birthday and great weather

Two friends came up to join us for my birthday dinner at this old mountain lodge.  Great meal.  Great fellowship.

We really like each other.

Me and a nephew blowing out our birthday cupcake.

She and I also went to another restaurant this week called the Gunk Haus near New Paltz, NY.  Recommended by our brother/brother-in-law who found it after a day of golf.  German food and beer.  And their deck sits above an apple orchard and looks out at the Shawangunk mountains and Mohonk's Skytop.

Her with new contacts.  She hasn't tried contacts in over twenty years, so she is enjoying her newly (re)found peripheral vision.

Our view as the sun sets.

In the bottom right corner you can just make out Skytop at Mohonk Mountain House.

On a morning hike this morning we found a giant dinosaur.  It's hard to make out but, unbeknownst to me, his eye is open!

My favorite person and dog on a rock with flowers.
