Hurricane Sandy

We hope that Sandy (heh, heh) takes it easy on this part of the woods!

This is our favorite time of year. Cool, dry air.  Leaves changing.  Leaves falling.

Can you spot the three deer?

Finn at the window.  He wants the deer badly.

They finally made it!

We had a great visit from his parents.  It was two days of catching up, relaxing, card playing, yard sale-ing, and bbq-ing.  We are so happy to have this time with them at the cabin.  Although we wish other family could have been there too, it was great to not have to share their attention with anyone.

Any resemblance?

The hustler on the left beat us at pretty much any card game we tried.

Autumn puttering

Finn likes to lay in the newly fallen leaves.

Here he uses his nose to take in Autumn. He's been practicing zen lately.

Settings on the camera are wrong, but I still like the light here at the pond.

Sometimes I see clearly why we bought this place.

Sloppy stone work. I guess we'll fix it.

She took her sister's drapes and made a table cloth and seat cushions.

He puts the final touches of stain on this little roof on the back. Now it's all done!

Oktoberfest, etc.

Oktoberfest at Hunter Mountain was great fun again this year.  Friendly people, bratwurst, and Spaten to our hearts' content. The German pride up there is strong during this month.

Then we had friends over for the weekend for some pre-Halloween fun.  Here Mark has industrialized marshmallow roasting.

Sarah is still learning that you have to put the marshmallow close to the fire. Jess is about to try her surfcasting technique.

Doesn't she look toasty?

It's hard to take photos in the dark whilst drinking. Katie, we are glad you came up!

She totally fits in in Woodstock, but it's really Saugerties on her mind.

 Over achievers carving pumpkins.

We had a pumpkin carving competition with absolutely nothing at stake. From left to right the artists were Sarah, Herself, Jess/Mark, and JD.

Pretty and yet scary.

Old friends visit

Our friends from New Mexico paid us a visit this past weekend. We hadn't seen them in ten years, so we filled the day with catching up and forgetting to take any pictures of them.  However, we did capture Finn's new friend, Tesla.  Here, they are tired from doing nothing together.
