Finn takes the mountain

It's been a few weeks since we've posted. During that time the ground has thawed and the air is much warmer. The days have been between 50 and 60 degrees, which has encouraged plants to bud and the birds to flock to our feeders. Birds we have seen at the feeders in the past three weeks include: tufted titmouse, white breasted nuthatch, black capped chickadee, red-bellied woodpecker, downy woodpecker, pileated woodpecker(!), blue jay, northern waterthrush, chipping sparrow, white-throated sparrow, white-crowned sparrow, dark eyed junco (in flocks! eating the grass seed), brown-headed cowbird, and American goldfinch.

The cabin with no snow

Big baby. Our vet said to handle him as much as possible so he gets used to being touched and handled and has no "issues" with it. Clearly he has no issues.

We hiked to 2400 feet (well, we drove most of it) to an escarpment overlooking the Hudson Valley. Finn is quite a hiker.

The last patch of snow until December. He loved it but we had very mixed feelings. It was a long winter and we weren't as happy to see snow as we were months ago.

My favorite picture of him. Sandy is making use of the warm cabin.

  1. Ooh, I love the pic of the three of you. Lol, I just switched my blog to this template!

  2. You got a dog! Great move. Gorgeous creature. He must be loving it up there.

  3. He's a cutie...and you guys don't look so bad either :-)
