After our first week in, we finally remembered to bring the camera. . . and promptly forgot to take it out or use it until the last minute when we were saying good bye to our very dear friends. here's a blurry, dark photo, with a promise of better ones to come!
BTW, the cat absolutely LOVES the country. She sleeps like a baby in the car on the way up and then wanders around the cabin and is creating new favorite nap spaces.

We're well on the way to getting the place in tip-top shape. Sorry to say, still no pics but soon to post. We spent Monday and Tuesday up to there in bleach as we vacuumed, bleached and rinsed the entire interior of the house. One way to learn to love a place is to spend days running your hands over each individual log. I think Mike did some (temporary) damage to his lungs and both of us had red-eyes like we spent the day in an over-chlorinated pool. The difference is remarkable, though. Really beautiful.
I'm back in town (someone has to work, I guess) and he's still up there continuing to clean and is now starting on the outside. The previous occupants sure had a bizarre range of garbage lying around. . .

Things have been very exciting the past few days. . . Thursday we did our final walk-through of the property and Friday morning was the closing. It went off with little ado (some gnashing of teeth on the seller's part which led to a few minutes of acute anxieety on this end), and we were off to our place in the woods!
We started cleaning right away, are still cleaning lo these many days later, and I do hope we're close to finished. Friday evening saw our first house guests, two of Mike's lovely friends from work. It was a great way to spend our first dinner. Big hugs and thank you to them for coming up!
Posts may be few and far between as there is no internet where we are. . . still figuring out what to do about that.
