Home Inspection

Well, we met with the home inspector last week. Let's just say that there is a long list of items we are bringing to the seller. It's an old cabin and as such, needs some TLC. Some of the issues will cost money, so we are going to approach the seller and say that he has to reduce the price accordingly. We had a builder up there two days ago who is writing up an estimate for the work.

We aren't sure how the seller will respond since we have already gotten him to come down in price significantly. Now we are going back for more. In fact, a lot more.

So now we have our fingers crossed again. We love the place but it needs to be a great deal. We'll keep you posted.

Inspection Day

Next Saturday, 12/12 is the inspection. We're excited to see the place again, this time through the eyes of a professional. Hopefully everything is sound, in which case we move on to a contract!

Woohoo!

The seller has accepted our offer. Next is to get a home inspector there and an engineer. Keep your fingers crossed!
One end of the upstairs loft. The other end opens out to the large room with the fireplace.
The kitchen. We will lose the dishwasher for sure. As is typical of log cabins, there is plenty of open shelving, but check out those raw wood cabinets.
Looking across from one end to the other. The front door is open leading out to the screened in porch. The man crouched in the center is feeding a log into the big wood burning stove that heats the place. There are other forms of heat, but the owner only burns wood. For some reason he has this beautiful window covered with cloth. And he has a lot of crap laying around.
An ample shed that he advertised as a "studio."
The front porch and deck. The porch is solid but needs some sprucing up. It looks out at a pine grove and up at Overlook Mountain.
The fireplace and back door. The chimney is hand made of blue stone from the property as is the fireplace inside.
It's late Fall so the leaves have already fallen. This is the end of the private road leading to the cabin (upper left of image).
